The LatchLock LL-01 was designed for me, by me, for use in my 1979 Hilux pickup with a sliding rear window. The original clasp from Toyota Part No. 69370-35010 or 69370-89103, and any other aftermarket clasps that I have found, all seem to fail for 1 specific reason: poor quality of materials. My original clasp from Toyota, a brittle piece of plastic held together with rusting pins, broke apart on both the pivot and the clasp. The design was deeply flawed and no quality aftermarket options were available. As such, the LatchLock was born.
As the name suggests the LatchLock is.. a latch.. and a lock. Clever. The LatchLock was designed to outperform the Toyota standard clasps in 3 specific categories:
Our latching is mechanically stronger than Toyota's clasping.
Our lock exists.. Toyota's does not
Our materials, CNC machined 6061-T6 for the body and stainless steel for the hardware, are more durable than Toyota's injection molded plastic and sheet metal screws
In short, I overdesigned and overbuilt a locking latch that works so well, I stuck a logo on it and decided to share it.
