It's no secret that your 1986-2000 Toyota 4wd is getting older. The more years on your frame the more stories it can tell. Dents, dings, and other trail related scars can be found on most rigs out there. As you drive, things that used to work.. suddenly don't. Brittle vacuum lines and shorted electrical connectors have always plagued Toyota trucks. The ImportLock IL-01 is your solution to this problem.

The ImportLock is a patent-pending mechanical safety device that acts as the actuator for split-shaft front differentials. From its inception the ImportLock was designed as a way to protect your vehicle from vacuum line failures and electric hazards that are present in actuators found on factory front differentials. We set out to create a product so tough that even if it fails, it doesn't leave you stranded. 

The housing of the ImportLock is machined out of 6061 aircraft grade aluminum and features a shift rod of 303 stainless steel. The ImportLock replaces the front differential actuator with no drilling or modifications needed. Designed similarly to a shock absorber, with a double oil-seal to keep your differential oil in, and dirt out. 

Note: the ImportLock Model IL-01 replaces the Toyota AIR/VACUUM ACTUATOR found on "Automatic Hub" A.D.D. 4x4 models front differential from 1986-2000.

The ImportLock offers several features that factory differential actuators lack

Integrated Safety Return Spring

A 2wd safety return spring has been integrated into the design in case of failure of the shift mechanism/wire. This means that even if the shifter breaks, you will be returned into 2wd. No standard factory housing features this safety device.

4wd Locking Pin

A 4wd locking pin has been added to ensure you can engage 4wd, even in the case of a failed shift mechanism/wire. We will not leave you stranded when you need 4wd to get home. If the mechanism/wire fails, simply remove the pin, shift the rod into the 4wd position, and use the pin to lock the rod in place.

2wd-Low

Isolating the shifting of the differential and the transfer case means that 2wd low is now available. Engage the low gear on the transfer case without engaging the front differential. The front driveshaft will spin, but without the front differential being engaged, will not affect the front wheels.

Shift Without Power

The ImportLock is fully mechanical, and can therefore be engaged/disengaged without the vehicle running, and without it receiving any power. You do not need to have a battery, or even an engine, to engage the ImportLock.

These features result in several beneficial byproducts such as the removal of several switches, the removal of the 2wd and 4wd vacuum switching valves, all of the 4wd reliant vacuum lines, and any of the wires that go to the vacuum switching valves.

Please Note: ImportLock Models are machined in batches as we do not have the ability to store inventory. When you place an order, we batch it. This means lead times are variable.
