The unfortunate truth of this world is that often times your true capabilities are locked behind arbitrary barriers, rendering your full potential unknown. Such is the case with the Toyota VF1 (1988-1995) & VF2 (1995.5-2004) Chain Drive Transfer Cases. From the factory these transfer cases are limited in their capabilities, with their shift rails locked together mechanically, reducing the number of gear combinations that you, the driver, get to manipulate. 

The DualShift sets out to unlock the potential of the VF1 & VF2 Chain Drive Transfer Cases. First and foremost, the DualShift is a segregated shifter, isolating the functionality of the transfer case. This allows you to operate your 2x-4x shifting independently of your H-N-L shifting. This is done through the use of a cleverly machined, easily serviceable, modular design, which allows for easy installation using factory hardware and gaskets. 

The DualShift base and arms are machined out of blocks of 6061-T6 aircraft grade aluminum. This keeps the assembly light and strong with superior corrosion resistance. The shift keys, where the most stress is applied, are a hard 4140 steel. This means that despite drastic changes in temperature, years of hard shifting, and trail abuse, your shifts will remain smooth and unobstructed. 

Each DualShift base is equipped with a spring-loaded pressure-regulated vent in order to mitigate fluid loss in the event of.. sideways driving. The shift keys and arms attach onto the base with a single M8x12.5x110 bolt. This means that ALL of the components of this shifter are secured and operate around a single fulcrum. This greatly increases the serviceability while cutting down on points of failure.

The angles on these arms have been designed to angle to the left in the auto transmission configuration in order to clear the shift bezel, and to the right in the manual transmission configuration in order to clear the reverse-low gear shift.

The threads on the arms are a standard M12x1.25 thread/pitch in order to allow for any shift knob combination that you'd like. Our TDM Shift Knobs are sold separately.

Note: the transfer case will have to be pulled and separated in order to remove the locking pin that links the two shift rails inside the transfer case together. Check our installation video for more info.

The DualShift offers several features that factory shifters lack

Isolated Shift Rails

The isolation of the 2x-4x and the H-N-L shift rails allows the driver to have more control over when to engage their under-drive. This includes the previously unobtainable 2-Low gear combination.

"True" Neutral

There is no longer a need to engage 4x in order to shift through it to reach the neutral gear. This allows you to shift seamlessly into transfer case neutral or "true neutral" for easy winching, trailering, etc.

Please Note: DualShift Models are machined in batches as we do not have the ability to store inventory. When you place an order, we batch it. This means lead times are variable.
